Swimming our way to a successful season

Every Monday, several of the One2Tri Racing team members, as well as many other One2Tri Multisport coaching athletes take to the lanes at the MCAC for a quality swim workout!  Led by our very own Nicole Gross, the team receives swim instruction and coaching that is proven to create better swimmers.

Join us Mondays at the MCAC at 6:30am!!

Several of the One2Tri Racing teammates showed up at the Elizabeth 8k in Charlotte on Saturday.  It was a very successful day for the team as usual!

Congrats again to Danielle Crockford for her 1st place female with a super speedy 31:18 (6:17/mile pace) and to her husband Chad for a 2nd place overall finish with a 27:28 (5:31/mile pace)!!  More kudos to Nicole Gross for a 3rd place female finish with an impressive 32:46 (6:35/mile pace) and to Keith Mrocheck for a 3rd place age group finish (7th overall) with a 29:29 (5:55/mile pace)!
Nicole Gross, Tom O'Donnell, Kim Eagens and Keith Mrocheck
Tom O'Donnell and Kim Eagens turned in some long training miles for upcoming marathons before the 8k but still turned in solid race times.  Tom grabbed a 2nd place age group with a 32:46 (6:34/mile pace) and Kim turned in a 35:18 (7:06/mile pace) despite the additional miles on their legs.

Overall a phenomenal showing by One2Tri Racing at the Elizabeth 8k!  A special thanks One2Tri Racers Tom Patch and Michael Beacham for riding as pacers for the race leaders and to Amanda Loftus for all of her efforts organizing the race!  Another very successful year.

A Congrats and a Thank You!

One2Tri Racing would like to congratulate Joey Church for his work this past weekend at the Cooper River Bridge Run.  Despite a strong headwind for over 3 miles of the run, Joey hung in and finished with a strong 10k PR of 37:46 (6:05/mile pace)!

Also, thank you to Tom Patch for pacing his friend for 50-miles (yes...five, zero) at the Umstead 100-miler in Raleigh, NC this weekend.  What a great support system Tom is!

Last but certainly NOT least...now introducing, Joey Church!

Joey Church joins the One2Tri Racing team like may of the other team members - as a runner.  Joey began running at the age of 15 where he ran middle and long distance track and field in high school.  Throughout his college years, however, Joey replaced his track shoes with a certain popular college adult beverage, like many do.  About 6 years ago, Joey decided it was time to live a healthier lifestyle which led to triathlons in 2009.  Joey's preferred race distance is sprint triathlon but he's not afraid to admit he's looking to take the gold in the Beer Mile in 2011 (chug 1 beer every .25 miles) after coming home with a disappointing bronze in 2010.  Joey is also looking to improve incrementally in all three disciplines in 2011; he has re-introduced a structured workout regime for the first time since high school and is using the expertise of professional cyclist and One2Tri Racing's own, Robin Farina, for his bike skills.

Joey attended college at UNC-Charlotte and currently lives in Uptown.  He has worked for Dassault Systems since 2004 in various positions and is currently in Technical Sales.

Joey's 2011 race schedule is as follows:

3/12/2011 - Sampson Country Super Sprint (1st place overall)
3/27/2011 - Cool breeze Sprint (1st place AG)
4/1/2011  -  Cooper River 10k (PR - 37:46)
5/1/2011  -  St Croix Ironman 70.3
6/11/2011 - TriLatta Sprint
6/18/2011 - Bandits Challenge Olympic
7/16/2011 - Stumpy creek Olympic
8/27/2011 - Lake Norman Sprint
9/23/2011 - Augusta Ironman 70.3

Breaking World Records!

As part of the Charlotte Running Club, Greg Shore and Chad Crockford took part in history-making this past weekend!  On March 26th and March 27th, the CRC set out to break the world record for the 5k x 100 person  relay!  And they did!

100 different [very fast] individuals took part in the all-night journey.  With a total run time of 30:56:49, the CRC now holds the Guinness Book of world records...by a lot!  With an average 5k time of just over 18:30 (5:58/mile pace!), it is confirmed that Charlotte and surrounding areas is home to some very fast runners.  CRC's time beats the previous record holders time of 37:12:54, set in December by the Florida Striders of Jacksonville, by almost 7 hours!!

The relay started at 6 a.m. on Saturday at Providence Day School track.  Despite temperatures in the 30's, runners continued through Sunday afternoon.  The 100 runners ranged in age from 14 - 56 years old!

One2Tri Racing teammate Greg Shore turned in a time of 17:28 (5:38/mile pace) and Chad Crockford turned in yet another incredible time of 16:54 (5:24/mile pace)!  Amazing, both of you, and congrats on being a part of history!

Greg Shore turning over some crazy fast miles!

One2Tri Racing brings home the wins at "Colds Gusts" a.k.a Cool Breeze

The One2Tri racing team was all over racing this past weekend, despite the frigid temperatures.

Tom Patch hit the streets at the National Marathon in Washington, DC.  Tom ran a 3:35:52 (8:14/mile pace) which is a  Boston qualifying time and a top 20% of finishers!!

Joey Church, Danielle Crockford and Kim Eagens bared the cold, wet weather to completed the Cool Breeze mini-sprint triathlon in Huntersville, NC.  The race consisted of a 250 yard pool swim, a 12 mile bike ride and a 5k run.

Joey Church finished the race in a blazing fast :57:40 (3:56 swim, 32:31 bike and 19:23 run) for a 1st place age group and a 9th place overall finish.   Joey also posted the fastest bike split of the day and only 35 seconds separated the 4th - 9th place finishers!  What a race.

Kim Eagens turned in a 1:05:37 (4:16 swim, 36:55 bike and 21:36 run) for a 1st place age group and a 9th place overall finish.

Danielle Crockford completed the race in 1:10:20 (5:24 swim, 41:25 bike, and 19:51 run) for a 4th place age group finish.  A phenomenal job to Danielle on her first ever triathlon!

As always, congrats to all the finishers and for some blazing fast racing!

Tobacco Road, Quintiles Wrightsville Beach and Shamrock 4-Miler!

One thing is for certain, the One2Tri Racing team has some pretty phenomenal runners.  Where to even begin with the weekend of March 19th!?

Mo Campbell took a 2nd place overall female in the Tobacco Road Marathon  in Raleigh, NC and PR'd with her first sub 3:00 marathon!  Mo turned in a 2:59:23 (6:51/mile pace).  A special congrats to Mo for an awesome race.

Jon Clary, Keith Mrocheck and Kim Eagens took to the roads of the Quintiles Wrightsville Beach Marathon and Half Marathon.  A huge congratulations to Jon Clary for his first sub 3:00 marathon and a 3rd place overall finish with a super fast 2:51:04 (6:32/mile pace)!  Keith turned in a very solid performance for a 7th place overall finish with a 2:54:20 (6:30/mile pace).  Kim used the half marathon as a training day for her upcoming marathon and an opportunity to pace her sister to a PR.  All in all, a very successful day marathon day for One2Tri Racing!

Chad and Danielle post Shamrock 4-miler!
Lastly, more congratulations to Danielle and Chad Crockford for their results at the Shamrock 4-Miler in Charlotte.  Danielle took a 1st place female win with a 25:15 (6:19/mile pace) and Chad won his age group with a 22:20 (5:35/mile pace).
