Breaking World Records!

As part of the Charlotte Running Club, Greg Shore and Chad Crockford took part in history-making this past weekend!  On March 26th and March 27th, the CRC set out to break the world record for the 5k x 100 person  relay!  And they did!

100 different [very fast] individuals took part in the all-night journey.  With a total run time of 30:56:49, the CRC now holds the Guinness Book of world records...by a lot!  With an average 5k time of just over 18:30 (5:58/mile pace!), it is confirmed that Charlotte and surrounding areas is home to some very fast runners.  CRC's time beats the previous record holders time of 37:12:54, set in December by the Florida Striders of Jacksonville, by almost 7 hours!!

The relay started at 6 a.m. on Saturday at Providence Day School track.  Despite temperatures in the 30's, runners continued through Sunday afternoon.  The 100 runners ranged in age from 14 - 56 years old!

One2Tri Racing teammate Greg Shore turned in a time of 17:28 (5:38/mile pace) and Chad Crockford turned in yet another incredible time of 16:54 (5:24/mile pace)!  Amazing, both of you, and congrats on being a part of history!

Greg Shore turning over some crazy fast miles!

One2Tri Racing brings home the wins at "Colds Gusts" a.k.a Cool Breeze

The One2Tri racing team was all over racing this past weekend, despite the frigid temperatures.

Tom Patch hit the streets at the National Marathon in Washington, DC.  Tom ran a 3:35:52 (8:14/mile pace) which is a  Boston qualifying time and a top 20% of finishers!!

Joey Church, Danielle Crockford and Kim Eagens bared the cold, wet weather to completed the Cool Breeze mini-sprint triathlon in Huntersville, NC.  The race consisted of a 250 yard pool swim, a 12 mile bike ride and a 5k run.

Joey Church finished the race in a blazing fast :57:40 (3:56 swim, 32:31 bike and 19:23 run) for a 1st place age group and a 9th place overall finish.   Joey also posted the fastest bike split of the day and only 35 seconds separated the 4th - 9th place finishers!  What a race.

Kim Eagens turned in a 1:05:37 (4:16 swim, 36:55 bike and 21:36 run) for a 1st place age group and a 9th place overall finish.

Danielle Crockford completed the race in 1:10:20 (5:24 swim, 41:25 bike, and 19:51 run) for a 4th place age group finish.  A phenomenal job to Danielle on her first ever triathlon!

As always, congrats to all the finishers and for some blazing fast racing!

Fast weekend for the team....

So March 12th was a great day for the One2Tri Racing team!  Team members were all around running and racing and posting solid results.

Mo Campbell, Chad Crockford, Kim Eagens, Jim Kunevicius and Tom O'Donnell all participated in the Alston & Bird Corporate Cup Half Marathon and 5k in uptown Charlotte!  Mo Campbell was tapering her miles in anticipation of the Tobacco Road Marathon next weekend and participated in the 5k distance event.  Despite "running easy", Mo took a 1st place female victory (based on chip time) with an incredible 19:09 (6:10/mile pace!)  Chad Crockford took a mens overall 5th position in the Half Marathon distance with a studly 1:17:15 (5:54/mile pace)!!
Study finish by Chad and some nice hardware.
Jim and Tom took the opportunity to use the day for solid training day and were great pacers pushing Kim to a PR at this distance by 8 seconds with a 1:38:30 (7:30/mile pace).  A great showing by One2Tri Racing at a wonderful local event!
Jim, Kim and Tom finish up the Corporate Cup Strong
Joey Church took a first place overall victory at the  Sampson County Mini Sprint  put on by FS Series in Clinton, NC.  Joey finished the 250 yard pool swim, 7 mile bike and 2-mile run in just 34:03.  Congrats to Joey for his first win, of many to come, of the 2011 season.

Introducing Michael Starkey and Jon Clary!

Michael Starkey comes to One2Tri Racing from a background in wrestling!  Michael has been wrestling since the age of nine and competed at the collegiate level for UNC Chapel Hill.   Michael took to triathlon a few years back and has had tremendous success (and speed) ever since!  Michael has raced triathlon of all distances but prefers the 70.3 half iron distance, where he holds a 4:27 PR.  Despite his blazing fast half iron PR, Michael intends to work on his bike leg throughout 2011 in hopes to improve his times at Ironman 70.3 New Orleans, White Lake Half, Ironman Augusta 70.3 and especially Ironman Arizona 140.6 in November.  We have no doubts Michael will be racing with some of the best over the long course in 2011.

Michael and his wife Beverly live in Waxhaw, NC with their three children - Kendall, Caleb and Zoe.  Michael has worked at Duke Energy for the past 5 years as the Print Services Manager.

Find Michael at the following races in 2011:

New Orleans 70.3 - 4/17/2011
White Lake Half - 5/14/2011
Latta Sprint - 6/11/2011
Augusta 70.3 - 9/25/2011
Ironman Arizona - 11/20/2011

Jon Clary is the One2Tri Racing team member you want around if there is an emergency.  Jon is the teams resident fire fighter and has been a member of the Charlotte Fire Department for 18 years.  His athletic background is in running and power lifting, to which he credits his dad for his involvement.  Jon competed in power lifting from 1985 - 1993 before dedicating himself to running and triathlon more recently.  Jon recently PR'd in the half marathon distance at the Myrtle Beach 1/2 Marathon with a super speedy 1:22:47 (6:18/mile pace!) and came home with an age group victory!  Jon hopes to PR in the 26.2 mile in the upcoming Quintiles Marathon and later this year at the Thunder Road Marathon.  In addition, Jon hopes this year holds much improved swim times as he has worked to perfect his stroke in the off season.

Jon attended UNC Charlotte and currently resides in Monroe, NC with his wife Michele and his daughter Jordan and son Austin.  As mentioned, he has been with the Charlotte Fire Department for the last 18 years and has been a driver for 7 years.

A BIG Weekend for One2Tri Racing

Saturday, March 5th was a very good day for the One2Tri Racing team.  Athletes were out and about showing off their speed and taking podium spots.

Kim Eagens, Robin Farina, Jim Kunevicus, Keith Mrocheck and Tom O'Donnell participated in the fun and super fast Waxhaw Duathlon (2 mile run, 18.6 mile bike, 2 mile run) outside of Charlotte, NC.

A special congratulations to Robin Farina who took a 1st place female with a super fast 1:17:21 and and an 8th place overall!!  Kim Eagens took a 3rd place female podium spot with a 1:21:30.  Keith Mrocheck just barely edged out Robin with a 1:17:15 for a 7th place overall finish and Jim Kunevicius had a solid race with a 1:18:32 taking a 9th place overall and a 3rd place age group finish.  Tom O'Donnell rounded out the One2Tri team finishes edging out Kim with a 1:20:53 for a 3rd place age group finish!  Congrats to all the Duathletes!

Tom Patch muscled out a PR at the Umstead Marathon in Raleigh, NC with a solid 4:01:44 - a PR on the grueling course by 17+ minutes!  Congrats to Tom (pictured)!!

Last, but certainly not least, Greg Shore got his feet wet in draft-legal racing at the Clermont Challenge in Clermont, FL.  Greg had a phenomenal experience with a very new and challenging type of racing compared to non-draft legal triathlon.  In draft-legal triathlon, exiting the swim in the lead pack is the only way an athlete will have a chance at the podium due to the extreme benefits (speed and energy consumption) of riding in a group.  Greg was within a minute of the lead pack and still turned out a blazing fast 18:50 5k after riding essentially alone for the whole race.  Greg came home with the 42nd spot and an experience that will last a lifetime.

Congrats to all of the One2Tri Racers for a super fast day today!

Meet our last two One2Tri Racing Females - Mo Campbell and Robin Farina!

Maureen “Mo” Campbell is the 2nd One2Tri Racing team female with a marathon victory on her resume.  Mo has been running since grade school and ran Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track competitively for Furman University until graduating in 2008.  Mo has completed 2 marathons, 3 half marathons and too many 5, and 10k’s to list.  She has also completed the 2010 Blue Ridge Relay as part of a 7 member team including fellow One2Tri teammate, Tom Patch.  Her distance of choice is currently the marathon because she enjoys the long haul but needs an end in sight.  Mo's career highlights came when her high school team won the State Championship and when she claimed 1st place female on the hilly course at the Thunder Road Marathon in 2009 with a blazing fast 3:04:23 (7:02/mile pace)!   Mo is looking to try her hand at the triathlon this year and has already begun working her bike and swimming skills; there are no doubts she will make up any potential ground lost when she hits the ground running.  Mo is looking to challenge herself in new distances in the 2011 season and hopes the PR in the NYC marathon in late Fall.

Mo was born in Springfield, Massachusetts and came to Charlotte, NC in 1992.  Mo is currently employed by Grandbridge Real Estate Capital where she has been a Portfolio Analyst since 2010.
