From 100 mile mountain rides, to nearby sprint triathlons and national bike races...the One2Tri Racing squad was all over this weekend!!
Michael Beacham, Kim Eagens, Jim Kunevicius, Keith Mrocheck and Tom O'Donnell took to the mountains for the epic 13th annual Blood, Sweat and Gears 100+ mile ride. The BSG course features nearly 14,000 feet of vertical climbing and takes riders through some of the most beautiful, yet challenging, mountains of NC. Michael Beacham rolled in with a 6:21, Kim Eagens turned in a 6:01 for the 7th female finish, Jim Kunevicius broke out a solid 5:54, Keith Mrocheck had a phenomenal ride with a 5:29 and Tom O'Donnell brought in a 6:51!!
Joey Church took to the Capital Cycling Club - Apex 41-mile road race on Saturday and came home with a cat5 5th place finish and a sold training day under his belt!
Our resident runners, Team Crockford, ventured down to Tri the Midlands in Columbia, SC to "tri" their hats in triathlon again....and a great idea it was! The race featured a 500m open water swim, a 14 mile bike and a 5k run. Danielle took the 2nd place overall female finish with a 1:19:06 and Chad took a 2nd place age group with a 1:11:23!
Greg Shore headed to the shore (pun intended) for the Kure Beach Double Sprint triathlon that is one of the most unique courses in the NC Triathlon Series. The race includes a 375 meter ocean swim, a 1.5 mile run, a 20k bike, a 1.5 mile run and a 375 meter swim! Despite cramping, Greg took home a 1st age group position with a 1:05:18.
Last, but certainly NOT least, Robin Farina racing with her National Pro Cycling team NOW and Novartis for MS, took home the USA Cycling Elite Women's Road Race Championship on Sunday in Augusta, GA! Look out for Robin as she comes back to Charlotte on the local triathlon circuit with the One2Tri Racing squad!
Overall, a very solid weekend of racing and training for One2Tri Racing. Check back soon for pictures from these great events! Stumpy Creek will be the next big outing for the members of One2Tri Racing! July 16th (Olympic) and 17th (Sprint). Happy training.

Summer Breeze 5k, DC 5150 and Bandits Challenge Success!
This past weekend was a very busy weekend for One2Tri Racing, who could be spotted racing locally, and along the eastern seaboard.
Coach Nicole took on the DC 5150 (Ironman's new International distance racing series) in the women's Elite category. Nicole placed 8th in her division with a 2:20:56 and earned a spot to the Hy-Vee Triathlon later year.
Joey Church took on the notoriously challenging Bandits race hosted by Setup events in Wilkesboro, NC and also came home with an 8th place overall position and a 1st place age group. Joey turned in solid times in all three disciplines.
Team Crockford continues to dominate the Grand Prix series race after race. The summer Breeze 5k was race #6 of 11 this year for the duo and Danielle took home a 2nd place female position with a 19:14 (6:12/mile pace). Chad turned in a season's best 16:44 (5:23/mile pace) for a 4th place overall position - a tribute to how stiff the competition is in the series! Currently Danielle is in 1st place for the females in the GPX series with her eyes on a three-peat in 2011 and Chad is a top 3 contender for the men!

One2Tri Racing "Tri's Latta" and Does it Right!
Tri Latta was the One2Tri's first of two team events for the 2011 season....and teammates showed up to race! The water was warm, the air was warm and the team was on fire!
Congrats to Coach Nicole Gross for her 2nd place female finish against a very competitive open division with a total time of 1:26:15. Kim Eagens picked up a 4th place female finish and a 1st place Age Group (30-34) with a 1:26:43 - just :28 seconds between 2nd and 5th females overall showing the depth of the field. Danielle Crockford took a 5th place Age Group (30-34) finish with a 1:34:47 in her first open water triathlon ever!! We'll see her on the podium next year no doubt.
On to the One2Tri Racing men who also showed up to race! Michael Starkey rolled in with a blazing fast 1:17:49 for a 1st place Age Group position (30-34) and a 10th place overall in a super strong mens field. Michael just beat out teammate Joey Church, who nabbed a 2nd place Age Group (30-34) with a 1:18:20. Greg Shore also took a 1st place Age Group finish (20-24) with a total time of 1:21:51, beating 2nd in his age group by over 3 minutes! Jim Kunevicius, despite faulty components on his bike, snatched up a 3rd place Age Group slot (35-39) with a 1:23:24. Chad Crockford, also in his first open water triathlon, posted a solid 7th place age group (30-34) with a 1:24:34 and, most notably, the fastest run split of the day with a 17:55. Tom O'Donnell came in with a solid 1:27:08 for a 9th place Age Group (40-44) and Tom Patch raced a solid 1:41:56 in his first open water triathlon in quite some time.
Thank you to Michael Gross for his support and photography throughout the day and to our Sponsor, Dr. Greenapple, for his treatment before and after the race!! A great team event for One2Tri Racing!!
Nicole heads to the finishing shoot with Joey Church hot on her tails! |

Black Mountain Ultra
Congrats to One2Tri Racing teammates Tom Patch and Mo Campbell for completing the Black Mountain Ultra Marathon this past weekend!
Tom Patch managed 65.1 miles in just over 22 hours despite a super hot Saturday!! Mo Campbell, running in her first ultra, ran the 12-hour option and completed 50 miles – her first consecutive mileage over marathon distance ever. Mo came in 4th overall female for the 12 hour race!! Mo's goal was 40 miles, so clearly she had yet another great race.
Tom and Mo would like to thank Michael Beacham who was a phenomenal teammate and friend during the day and came in HUGE by bringing them food about 7 hours into the race. Given that the food at the aid stations was pretty sparse, Tom and Mo would have have been in trouble without him!!
A big congrats for a great weekend for Tom and Mo and a huge thank you to Michael!

Robin Farina with NOW and Novartis Cycling!
The One2Tri Racing team would like to wish teammate Robin Farina well as she sets out on her two week bike racing adventure around the country with her national pro team - NOW and Novartis for MS. The team was formed by Phil Keoghan, host of the 7-time Emmy Award winning CBS reality series “The Amazing Race,” and founder of No Opportunity Wasted (NOW) and Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation have teamed up to create a cycling team made up of world-class professional female cyclists dedicated to raising awareness and providing a deeper understanding of MS. Robin recently joined the newly formed team and will leave Charlotte today en route to Tulsa for the Tulsa Tough event from Friday - Sunday. Robin and team will then jet set to Minneapolis/St. Paul for the 4-day Nature Valley Grand Prix. We wish her well! Learn more about Robin by clicking on her bio.
Based on Robin's successful season so far - including a strong personal and team finish (6th) at the Philadelphia International Cycling Classic on June 5th, and a lap leader victory at the Dilworth Crit, Robin and her new team should post some very strong finishes these next two weeks.

Thank You to Dr. and Jason Greenapple!!
The One2Tri Racing Team would like to extend a huge thank you to Dr. Greenapple and his son, Jason, for the team gait analysis at the JC Smith University Track last night. Team members gained some extremely valuable tips and information from the man himself, that there is no doubt, teammates will apply going forward. Dr. Greenapple's experience in the running / triathlon industry is invaluable to the team.
Thank you Dr. Greenapple! You Rock!
